Art

The West Reading Elementary Center's Art Program strives to provide a creative environment that enables students to express their thoughts, ideas, and emotions through a variety of artistic venues. Age-appropriate instruction is developed to recognize individual uniqueness, encourage personal responses, and allow students to demonstrate an awareness of self, community, and the world around them.

Students are continually introduced to artists, their styles, art vocabulary, and traditional and contemporary methods of creative expression. Lessons are often integrated into various grade-level curricula, which emphasizes and reinforces classroom subject matter.

Each school year culminates with a district-wide art exhibit that features artwork from every child in the elementary level. By nurturing self-expression, imagination, and involvement in the creative process, the West Reading Elementary Center is committed to lifelong learning through active participation in the arts.
