Dear WREC Family,
We have just completed our second-to-last week of the 2019-20 school year! While we
placed more of an emphasis on the specialist subject areas this past week, our core subject
teachers were busy working with students to complete distance learning assignments. Our
official last school day is Friday, June 5th. Teachers will not be posting any new assignments the
week of June 1st-5th. We will be sending home fourth quarter report cards next week as part of
our end-of-year mailing. In addition to the 4th quarter report card, that mailing will also include
7th grade course recommendations for current sixth grade students.
Speaking of next week, we have posted a Sign-up Genius for students to schedule a time
to return to WREC to pick up personal items, return library books, clean out desks, lockers, etc.
Please use this link to schedule your student’s pick up
time: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/20f0449a4a823a2f94-wrec1.
Many of you have already taken the opportunity to do this. We are taking appropriate
precautions to ensure that this is a safe, efficient way for students to pick up/drop off
materials. Only students will be allowed to enter WREC during their chosen time slot. Parents
should wait in their cars in the designated parking areas on 4th Avenue and Chestnut
Street. 5th Grade students will be allowed to keep their iPads for the summer and then return
with them in the fall. 6th grade students must return their iPads and charging cords. We will
provide a mask at school if a student does not have one. Staff will be spread around WREC to
supervise this process. Appropriate social distancing practices will be utilized, and it is an
expectation that all students will work efficiently to return/retrieve materials from the building
before meeting back up with their parent outside. WREC students are allowed to walk to the
building by themselves and then return home, so it is not required to have a parent accompany
them. Upon entering the building, students will be given a checklist to guide them through the
process. Listed below is a general set of instructions for students to follow:
1. What to bring to your assigned clean-up time:
· All school supplies that belong to your teacher or to the school:
· iPads, Cables, & chargers (6th grade only)
· Textbooks (you do not need to return math or science books)
· Classroom novels
· Calculators
· COACH books
· Library books
· Sheet music (Spartan Singers only)
2. All prescription medications in the nurse’s office must be picked up by a parent or
guardian.
3. Please wear a facemask (we do have extra masks if you do not have one).
4. Bring a bag in which to carry your personal belongings home.
5. Please show up at the main entrance at your assigned time. You will check in and
check out at the entrance.
6. Only WREC students signed up at that time will be permitted in the building.
We will continue to distribute lunch and breakfast meals for all students from 11:00 am – 12:30
pm on Mondays (2 days of meals) and Wednesdays (3 days of meals) at the WREC main
entrance. The last scheduled date for meal distribution is Monday, June 29th.
As always, if you have any additional questions, please email me at
[email protected], or call
me at my extension listed below. Please continue to do the things which are keeping you and
your family healthy!
