Welcome to the West Reading Elementary Center
The academic program provided at the West Reading Elementary Center is aligned to the Pennsylvania Academic Standards and is rich with opportunities to build a strong foundation of knowledge and to pursue in-depth learning. The schedule includes classes for language arts, math, science, social studies, art, music, technology, library skills, and physical education. Teachers assess the level at which each student enters a program and provide opportunities for academic growth. Small group instruction provides extra support in math and language arts for those students who need it.
Each student has a 1:1 iPad which serves as a tool to expand the learning opportunities for students and staff. Special programs, such as assemblies, field trips, Geography Bee and educationally-themed days create memorable learning experiences.
Programs in which students may elect to participate also enhance the educational experience. Band and orchestra are offered within the school day, along with opportunities for instruction in playing those instruments. Students may try out to belong to a select chorus, the Spartan Singers, which meets for rehearsal before school one morning out of the six-day cycle. After-school club opportunities include Draw Squad, Art Club, News Bowl, Math Olympics, and Student Council.
