On April 26, West Reading Elementary School’s Innovation Center opened its doors to the community to demonstrate the hands-on STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, math) activities. Faculty and students showed community members technologies such as littleBits (right): color-coded, magnetic, and reusable electronic building blocks that enable students to engineer real-world solutions through invention, with confidence and creativity.
“We have worked hard recently at being more assessment-driven, responsive, and engaging in our instructional approach,” says Dr. Corbett Babb, West Reading Elementary School Principal. “I’ve seen the inquiry-based learning piece and overall student engagement advance to the next level through the activities happening in our Innovations Lab.”
The Innovation Center was made possible, in part, through funding from the Wyomissing Area Education Foundation.
